Barrie Christian Council, P.O. Box 28017, Barrie, ON, L4N 7W1
The Christian churches in the city of Barrie have set aside Saturday, May 12, as a day of spiritual significance. On that day we plan to cover the entire city in prayer - street by street and in person - as we organize a city wide prayer walk.

     One Day.

Every house, every business, every school, every church, every agency, every government facility.

The whole city prayed for in one day.

Perhaps you have never tried, or even heard of, prayer walking. It is simply praying aloud or silently, in groups or alone, as you observe the neighbourhood you are walking through. For example, as you pass homes, pray for the people who live there - for repentance, for bondages to be broken. If you walk past a playground, pray for the children who are or will occupy it. Pray for schools and hospitals. Pray for law enforcement personnel. Use the cues around you as you walk to build your specific prayer list.

In order to reach the goal of covering the entire city in prayer, we will need participants to sign up indicating the blocks where they will be prayer walking. Here's how that will work.

1. Using the map below, determine the ward in which you will pray.

Ward1 Ward2 Ward3 Ward4 Ward5 Ward6 Ward7 Ward8 Ward9 Ward10

2. Click ward numbers above, corresponding to the ward. Using the ward map shown there, determine the actual blocks for your prayer walk. (Streets shown in a Red colour have been spoken for.) The ward maps above will help you determine what areas still need to be covered. If you require a more detailed map to choose your streets, we suggest Google maps.

Guidelines

  • Gather a group of two or three to prayer walk together
  • Meet at an assigned time and start with group prayer
  • Plan your route ahead of time
  • Pray aloud in a quiet, conversational voice, if you feel comfortable doing so. Or pray silently, letting your prayer partners know what you are praying about.
  • Don't call attention to yourselves.
  • If anyone asks what you are doing, be prepared to explain that you are praying God's blessing on the neighbourhood. Ask if the person has a specific request.
  • Although it is not the primary purpose of prayer walking, be open to any opportunities to interact with people.
